JK Floorheating have installed fermacell^® flooring for a private residence who wanted to add energy-efficient underfloor heating to their kitchen/diner extension.  Because of the existing substrates, what should have been a simple specification was made more complex with three different type of floor constructions: old chipboard on joists, new chipboard on new joists and a new extension 100mm PIR on block and beam. The solution was to fast find a single system that could easily provide sufficient heat through the entire floor. 

The design team were looking for ways to speed up the build time whilst not compromising on quality. fermacell^®  partitions offer the speed of drywall with the robustness of blockwork, saving time, money & space, as they can be installed before the building enveloped is fully closed. This had a positive impact on program time estimated to be over 5 weeks for Allen Edwards Primary School.

Timber frame manufacturer Scotts of Thrapston has used fermacell fibre gypsum boards on a pioneering school build. The 18.5m x 6.5m building was constructed as a flat pack over two weeks at Scotts’ production facility in Thrapston, then transported by truck to Weldon and erected by a team of four men using an all-terrain fork lift truck in just six weeks during term time.

5,000m² of 12mm square-edged fermacell board was used throughout the University of Edinburgh’s £11 million development of the Institute for Genetics and Molecular Medicine (IGMM) at the city’s Western General Hospital.
